Mono Active Direct Box

The MDA1 Mono Active Direct Box combines premium audio circuitry with rugged, roadworthy construction, providing high-quality signal connection solutions for live sound and recording studio applications. The MDA1 operates using either a 9V battery or 48V phantom power and allows clean, balanced signals to be sent from guitars, basses, and other instruments.

The Samson S-MAX MDA1 features an all-metal, impact-resistant design, making it ideal for both live performance and studio environments.

It is especially useful for sending long cable runs to mixers in environments with high electrical interference. An input attenuator allows compatibility with a wide variety of signal levels, while a ground lift switch helps eliminate unwanted hum and buzz.

Active Operation

The active MDA1 delivers a flat frequency response regardless of the connected source's output impedance. This makes it particularly effective for instruments with high-impedance passive pickups, preserving the instrument's full frequency range and high-end detail.

Its balanced XLR output provides a cleaner signal that is less susceptible to noise than unbalanced connections, making it ideal for long cable runs. A two-position 0 dB / -15 dB attenuation switch allows the MDA1 to accommodate a wide range of signal sources.

Thru Output Convenience

The MDA1's Thru output allows the incoming signal to be sent simultaneously to an amplifier or monitor while also feeding the balanced output. This enables performers to maintain their stage sound without affecting the signal being sent to the mixing console. It can also reduce the need for microphone placement on guitar amplifiers, especially when using in-ear monitoring systems.

Roadworthy Construction

Built with a durable 14-gauge steel chassis, the MDA1 is designed to withstand the rigors of touring and demanding live applications. Its rugged enclosure protects internal components, switches, connectors, and solder joints, ensuring reliable and quiet operation over the long term.
